Emerald Ash Borer (EAB)
The EAB is an insect that kills ash trees. EAB is present in
Minnesota, and is as close to us as Eden Prairie. Due to
good sanitation procedures and the natural, slow progres-
sion of EAB, Hutchinson is in a good position to manage
Organic's proactively.
Only!!! Currently about 17% of publicly owned trees are susceptible
to EAB. In recognition of this, the City has set aside some
funds for ash tree removal and replacement. When ash
trees are proactively removed and replaced, larger, 2” trees
(usually 10-15’ tall) are planted in their place to fill in the
gaps.
If an ash tree on the boulevard near your home is declining
in health, we invite you to contact us to let us know about it.
We will be put these trees on a list and will likely be able to
remove and replace between 25-50 trees per year. Before
Hours of Operation being removed and replaced, an evaluation of the tree’s
