The following materials are allowed to be deposited in are-

Leaf compost area: Leaves, grass clippings, and
other garden debris.
No plastic bags Only compostable bags We are taking applications for the 2018 planting season
Brush: Tree limbs and other clean wood (no metal, Up to 3 trees per application
nails etc.) five inches or less in diameter $15 per application (not per tree)
Logs: Clean wood material greater than 5” diameter Multiple applications accepted per property

in the amount of waste going into their regular refuse cart.
Put these items in your food & yard waste container. Emerald Ash Borer (EAB)
Green LID Organic Container The EAB is an insect that kills ash trees. EAB is present in
Minnesota, and is as close to us as Prior Lake. Due to good
sanitation procedures and the natural, slow progression of
EAB, Hutchinson is in a good position to manage proactive-
ly.
Currently about 17% of publicly owned trees are susceptible
FRUIT & FOOD YARD & TWIGS 2 FT FOOD to EAB. In recognition of this, the City has set aside some

(usually 10-15’ tall) are planted in their place to fill in the
gaps.
If an ash tree on the boulevard near your home is declining
in health, we invite you to contact us to let us know about it.
We will be put these trees on a list and will likely be able to
remove and replace between 25-50 trees per year. Before
being removed and replaced, an evaluation of the tree’s
health will be conducted, along with determining the proximi-
ty of the tree to others being removed. This is done to avoid

neighborhood.
Dutch Elm Disease (DED)
Forestry staff will be monitoring for DED again this summer.
DED is still a threat and the elm trees that remain are a tes-
tament to the success of the City’s sanitation policies. If you
have an elm tree with DED, it should be removed right away.
If you receive a notice from the City, you will have 20 days to
