                     Green LID Organic Container                The EAB is an insect that kills ash trees.  EAB is present in
                                                                Minnesota, and is as close to us as Prior Lake.  Due to good
                                                                sanitation procedures and the natural, slow progression of
                                                                EAB, Hutchinson is in a good position to manage proactive-
                                                                ly.

                                                                Currently about 17% of publicly owned trees are susceptible
                                                                to EAB.  In recognition of this, the City has set aside some

                                                                If an ash tree on the boulevard near your home is declining
                                                                in health, we invite you to contact us to let us know about it.
                                                                We will be put these trees on a list and will likely be able to
                                                                remove and replace between 25-50 trees per year.  Before
                                                                being removed and replaced, an evaluation of the tree’s
                                                                health will be conducted, along with determining the proximi-
                                                                ty of the tree to others being removed.  This is done to avoid

                                                                Dutch Elm Disease (DED)

                                                                Forestry staff will be monitoring for DED again this summer.
                                                                DED is still a threat and the elm trees that remain are a tes-
                                                                tament to the success of the City’s sanitation policies.  If you
                                                                have an elm tree with DED, it should be removed right away.
                                                                If you receive a notice from the City, you will have 20 days to
