HUTCHINSON SHOTOKAN KARATE

Come join our karate community! Hutchinson Shotokan Karate Club has been a part of the Hutchinson community
since November 1984 and offers training in the traditional style of Shotokan Karate. Through continued training, the
student (karateka) will increase coordination, concentration, flexibility, strength, agility, stamina, and self-confidence.
Training will include basic and combination techniques (Kihon), forms (Kata), sparring (Kumite), competition training and
self-defense.

Chief Instructor, Patrice Vander Veen, Yondan (4th degree black belt) began training January 1990, became instructor
of beginner’s classes in 1993 and appointed Chief Instructor March 1996. Assistant Instructor, Joshua Horsman, Nidan
(2nd degree black belt) began training July 2009 and appointed Sr Asst Instructor November 2011.

Our COVID-19 policies will adjust based on the current status of the pandemic and local,
state and federal guidelines.

Training Location: During School Year: West Elementary Gym, 875 School Rd SW

Classes will not meet on the following dates: Oct 19, Oct 21, Nov 25

quarterly by registering for 3 months at a time #21312 December 2-23
New students in the Beginners Class are only
accepted quarterly, specifically in January, April, July Advanced Class
and October. This is due to the scheduling of rank This class is for 3rd-1st Kyu Ranks (brown belts) and
exams, which are held every 3 months and the all Dan Ranks (black belts)
requirement that a student must train for a minimum Tuesday & Thursday 7:30-8:30 pm
of 3 months consecutively to be eligible for a rank

Beginners Class: Age 6 & Up
This class is for 10th-8th Kyu Ranks (white/yellow/orange #21315 November 2-30, no class 11/25
belts). New beginner students accepted only in the #21316 December 2-23
