Enhancing Safety and Enjoyment at the Aquatic Center
PRCE rules and policies are in place to enhance safety, reduce the risk of injury, and maximize the lifeguards’ ability to scan the pool. Thank you for your cooperation!

Swim Diapers:
- Children 3 years of age and younger must wear swim diapers. Swim diapers are available for purchase at the admission counter for $1.
- Regular diapers are not allowed in the facility pools or aquatic features. Regular diapers do not prevent accidents in the pool, and the absorbent material inside regular diapers can damage pool filter systems if the diaper ruptures.

- Street clothes are not permitted to be worn in the pool
- Swimsuits with built-in flotation for younger children are not allowed – unless Coast Guard approved

- All balls used in the facility must be designed for pool use. No regular footballs or basketballs will be permitted – only soft, pool designed balls are allowed.
- Water Sprayers and Water Toys are Allowed in the Facility.
- No glass or tempered glass goggles.
- No Snorkels are Allowed in the Facility, due to the risk of “Dry Drowning.”
- Lifeguards are permitted to take any personal items or toys/balls brought into the facility if they become distracting or hazardous to the public. Lifeguards will return the items to the owner upon exit of the facility.
Food & Beverages:
- Coolers and glass containers are not permitted in the facility
- Alcohol and tobacco are not allowed in the facility or on the grounds
- Outside food and beverages are not allowed in the facility
Closing Policy
The Hutchinson Aquatic Center will clear the pool and/or close if:
- The temperature is 62 degrees or colder for Open/Family Swim.
- The pool will not close for morning or evening fitness swim due to temperature alone.
- It is raining so profoundly that lifeguards cannot effectively scan their zone by seeing the bottom of the pool. The pool will close until Lifeguards are able to regain sight of the bottom of the pool.
- There is thunder or lightning. The pool will close 30 minutes after the last sound/strike.
- There is a tornado warning. The pool will close until the warning is lifted.
- There is an unexpected bodily fluid release/spill in the pool. The pool will close for an amount of time designated appropriate by the Minnesota Department of Health.
- There is minimal attendance: The Aquatic Center or sections of the Aquatic Center will close if there is minimal attendance to the facility.
- If there are less than 10 swimmers for 1 hour, the entire facility will close.
- If there are less than 20 swimmers for 2 hours, all aquatic features will be turned-off (slides, lazy river, bucket/small slides, etc.); however, certain areas in the Aquatic Center will remain open.
Expect that Lifeguards will evacuate patrons from the pool deck to seek shelter inside the Rec Center Building during: thunder, lighting, or tornado warnings.
Refund Policy
The Hutchinson Aquatic Center does not offer cash refunds.
If the pool is cleared for more than one hour due to inclement weather or bodily fluid related closures, guests who purchased daily admission less than one hour before the pool was initially cleared, and can produce a receipt, will receive a daily admission voucher to return on another day.
Daily admission holders who have been at the Aquatic Center more than one hour before the pool is closed will not be given daily admission to return.
Guests must remain at the facility in order to receive daily admissions credits.
Medical Emergency / Unexpected Emergency:
In an emergency, the well-being of the individual or group in crisis is paramount. You and your family may be evacuated from the pool deck, evacuated from a certain pool, asked to leave an area, or asked to move to the parking lot without time to obtain your belongings, cell phone, towel, etc. This will be asked only if it is in the best interest of the individual or group in crisis.
