The Senior Center opened its doors in May of 2002.
The facility was made possible through a $1 million dollar grant provided by the Minnesota Department of Trade and Economic Development.
The City of Hutchinson along with Hutchinson Area Health Care purchased Plaza 15 to facilitate Hospital expansion. The total project value is estimated at $2.3 million dollars. The City spent $1.3 million to construct the 24,000 square foot facility.
The facility was designed to meet a variety of needs.
The Senior Center portion of the facility provides for daily activities for Hutchinson’s senior population. The facility has hosted numerous events including weddings, banquets, trade shows, dances, and business meetings. With over twenty caterers and five beverage vendors the facility is able to handle every type of event need.
